We have seen some big shifts in the body positive / plus size athletic and fitness community in these last few years. In fact, when we joined Instagram 4 years ago, the hashtag #plussizeathlete had only been used a handful of times. Today, as of this posting, this hashtag has been used over 8,100 times and we think that is FRIGGIN AWESOME because it shows that women are stepping into their power and feeling comfortable and confident to unleash their inner athlete. And tell the world all about it!
As part of this shift, more plus size women are embracing their passion and setting up community based groups around health & wellness, like Erin bogle who created Big Girl YYC (YYC is the identity code for Calgary Alberta).
In the latest Plus Performance podcast, we talk with Erin on why it was important to start Big Girl YYC and help create authentic connections offline. You’ll love her passion so much, you may be inspired to head up your own Big Girl chapter.
